Established under Council of Ministers Regulation No. 575/2025, ENEC operates as a federal institution mandated to lead the national nuclear programme and serve as Ethiopia's Nuclear Energy Programme Implementing Organization (NEPIO).
The Ethiopian Nuclear Energy Commission (ENEC) is a federal government institution established under Council of Ministers Regulation No. 575/2025, issued pursuant to the Definition of Powers and Duties of the Executive Organs Proclamation No. 1263/2023.
ENEC is the national authority responsible for leading, coordinating, and promoting the peaceful use of nuclear science and technology in Ethiopia. The Commission serves as the Nuclear Energy Programme Implementing Organization (NEPIO).
Through strong partnerships with national stakeholders and international institutions including the IAEA, ENEC aims to strengthen national capacity in nuclear applications, radiation protection, nuclear safety and security.
